Mobile Technology and BusinessWorld Wide Worx is presently conducting a range of research surveys on mobile technology and business in South Africa. Currently under way is a research project on the role of mobile technologies in delivering public services, being undertaken on behalf of the Centre for Public Service Innovation (CPSI), in partnership with the State Information Technology Agency (SITA) and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). The CPSI, established by the Minister for Public Service and Administration in 2001, has initiated a programme called Future Watch to make essential information available to decision-makers. It has identified mobile technologies to launch the Future Watch process, and has contracted World Wide Worx to lead the initial research process. For more details, click here. Two projects concluded during 2002 on behalf of Intel Corporation will be included in World Wide Worx's first in-depth Mobile Business in South Africa report later in 2003. This report will include research currently being undertaken into mobile business strategies. WWW managing director Arthur Goldstuck led South Africa's first research survey on mobile commerce at the end of 2000, and has produced several academic papers on the topic for Wits University's Information Systems Department. He is currently examining mobile commerce business models for a Masters thesis. Some of this research will be featured in the Mobile Business in South Africa report. If you want us to advise you when any of these report are ready, send a email to World Wide Worx, with your name and organisation in the body of the message. |
